Rhetoric You Can Believe In.

It's high time a word be said about Mr. Obama. Even though support was thrown his way during this last poll check, recognition of the game doesn't escape the aura of change. Indeed, despite this being the first vote that could actually be a called a genuine vote, there is still the reality that Helen Keller once described as choosing between "tweedledum" and tweedledee".

On the economy, flashbacks to FDR's New Deal are so prevalent, it almost seems silly for analysts to analyze the economic state of things. The Pubs throw around the same old laissez-faire tax-reduction nonsense and Libs still believe in adjustment capitalism. Obama is just playing the old "Keynes" card. This isn't really that suprizing. Obama's support of the free-market is well-known, despite crazed righties crying "socialism". True progessivism with the economy was never really in the sights.

(Smedley Butler, the former "gangster for capitalism" who foiled a U.S. fascist coup)

Of course, instead of Rush crying into a microphone, FDR was almost taken over by a fascist coup from the business 'elite'. Ahh, those were the days, when conservatives praised Hitler for the genious he was putting together in Germany while calling the prez. a communist. Now, it is somehow un-"American" to point out that conservative warmongers exhibit virtually the same platform as the tenants of fascism, the only difference is they aren't proud to say so anymore, or are in denial. Or ignorance.

Probably ignorance.

Obama is clearly playing the game. Talkin' compromise, peace, and bi-partisanship, he's setting himself up for another Clinton era. Could it be any different with our tweedledee and tweedledum system?

What demonstrates some points of light is an obvious intelligence about society and the world. Obama's speech on "race" demonstrated a remarkable understanding of complicated dynamics in U.S. History, and that is encouraging. He even writes his own speeches!

What upsets me the most is the rhetoric of a new image for America abroad. All this talk of international law and human rights sounds great; a quest for peace in the middle-east. Yeah right. What is the response to Israel these days? "Shame on Hamas"

We give billions of dollars and missiles and helicopters and things of that nature to Israel, who then took those things and murdered over a thousand civilians in less than a week. If that's not enough, Israel bombed the U.N. . . . an actual U.N. building. Schools and hospitals are nothing new, but the U.N.?

Same old same old. Condemn the folks that commit tragedies against us and our allies; say nothing of the tragedies we commit (or are complicit in . . . as it were in this case).

How hard would it have been to say "don't violate human rights or lose your funding"? Eight words, that it. Unfortunately, Isreal's little test of the new adminstration is going just like Clinton and Bush of old. Talk peace while Israel continues their death hold.

Rhetoric won't stop missiles, bombs, helicopters and tanks. The only way to stop them is stop using them.

can you spot the evil-doer?

Eight words . . .
